WHERE IT ALL STARTED
Preparations for the inaugural festival began in April 2018. Meetings were had and ideas workshopped. The ball really got going
when our initial concept proposal was presented to the Kingston District Council.
The Kingston District Council were very supportive of the concept and moved to approve $10,000 in seed funding. A committee was formed and here we are today, heading into the 2nd birthday. The inaugural festival was an amazing day with plenty of positive feedback. We have reviewed and revised last years event and have started implementing the changes we need to make the festival even better. Preparations are well underway for our 2020 event, stay tuned...the music line up is due to be released soon.
2020 MEET THE LEADERSHIP TEAM
The 2020 festival will be led again by co-founder, Tom Gardner & Julie Trenaman along with inaugural Treasurer; Tracy Brockhoff & Assistant Secretary: Tess Armfield. The new leadership team welcomes to the 2020 festival Catering Co-ordinator; Amy Peterson and General Festival Co-ordinator & MC; Bryce Smith. The main objective of the association is to create a fun and vibrant family atmosphere during the summer period by organising an annual event.
Carrying on from 2019, the committee will continue to investigate sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions that we can bring to the festival. In 2019 the committee (in particular Tom and his helpers) re purposed pallets into festival furniture and we recycled all of our bottles and cans. We introduced reusable beer steins and wine cups to minimise the amount of single use plastic. This is only the very beginning but we have made a start.
